Superb is a reading app that quietly builds vocabulary. You read real books, tap the words that trip you up, and play short games that stretch what you can do with language. The growth happens on its own.
Reading comes first
The whole app is built so you can pull it out at night and read without added stress. Your place in every book is saved as you scroll. Ordinary reading is private: it records nothing beyond where you are and the words you choose to keep.
Words give up their meanings
Tap a word while reading and a small card opens with its meaning, right on the page. If you like the word, keep it — it waits for you on your words page with the sentence it was met in.
Three games
Rhyme shows you a word; you type or say words that rhyme, with a bonus for connecting them in a sentence or a bar. It builds short-term recall.
Association shows you a word; you offer words that relate to it. The point is the nudge at the end — seeing how you answered next to how you could have.
Prose gives you passages composed for you: sentences that stretch your handling of structure, ambiguity, and unfamiliar vocabulary. This is the one place the learning engine schedules what you see.
What it costs
Nothing. Every book is public domain, the code is source-available, and there is no account to make. If it is free to supply, it is free to you.
What it takes from you
Nothing leaves your device. Your shelf, your places, your kept words, and the engine's state all live in your own browser's storage. There is no tracking and no analytics. The only network request the reading app makes is for the book you asked to open.
