Check whether a source fits a claim

Evidence evaluation compares the supplied excerpt with the exact claim. It does not independently verify the source or fetch missing context.

Supply the source passage#

HTTP equivalent: POST /v1/claims/evaluate-evidence. Supply up to eight excerpts, each no more than 24,000 characters, and no more than 96,000 characters across them.

Read the boundary#

For this example, deterministic evaluation reports related context and an insufficient overall result. An association statement does not establish the causal claim as written.

Deterministic overlap never establishes support or contradiction. Provider-assisted assessments can return supports, partial support, contradicts, context only, irrelevant, or unclear; they remain model assessments of the supplied text.

Show exact citations#

Keep sourceId, quoted text, and the returned offsets together. Give readers access to the original source URL when available. Do not attach an entire source as evidence for a claim if only a narrower statement was checked.
